Phulpati Procession Held at Tundikhel Military Parade Ground

Kathmandu: The ‘Phulpati Badaai Ceremony 2082’ was held this afternoon at the Tundikhel military parade ground, with President Ram Chandra Paudel attending as the chief guest. In honor of the President, who is also the Supreme Commander of the Nepali Army, a guard of honor was presented by the Nepali Army.

During the ceremony, the army performed rifle salutes in both sequential and simultaneous formats, along with cannon salutes and the sounding of conch shells. Highlights of the event included a military parade, a performance of the Durga Nach, and a banner display and flower shower from army helicopters and drones, marking the occasion. A devotional Durga invocation was also presented.

The Phulpati Badaai ceremony is considered a unique and culturally significant event that upholds Nepal’s traditions, religion, and heritage. The Nepali Army has a long-standing tradition of celebrating Phulpati Badaai at Tundikhel with great enthusiasm. The Phulpati and Jamara brought from Gorkha are first brought into Hanumandhoka Dashain Ghar at an auspicious time, after which the Phulpati procession at Tundikhel takes place.

Distinguished attendees included Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister Sushila Karki, Chief Justice Prakashman Singh Raut, Speaker Devraj Ghimire, Chairperson of the National Assembly Narayan Prasad Dahal, members of the Cabinet, high-ranking officials, and heads and representatives of diplomatic missions.

The Nepali Army organizes this grand event annually on Saptami, the seventh day of Vijay Dashain, to mark Phulpati. A large crowd of spectators gathered around Tundikhel to witness the event. The ceremony was broadcast live by Nepal Television and various other media outlets.
