Former Election Commissioner Ila Sharma Passes Away

Kathmandu- Former Election Commissioner Ila Sharma has passed away.

According to family sources, she died during treatment at Norvic Hospital in Thapathali at 7 PM on Saturday after experiencing chest pain.

Recently, she was serving as a director at Citizens Bank International.

Sharma had led the High-Level Legal Drafting and Political Relations Committee responsible for preparing drafts of election laws, regulations, and directives.

She served as an election commissioner from Falgun 2069 to Falgun 2075 (March 2013 to March 2019).

Sharma was born in Kartik 2023 B.S. (October/November 1966) and spent her childhood in Banaras, India. Her final rites will be performed on Sunday. She is survived by two daughters.
