Dr. Aryal Appointed as Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan University

Kathmandu – Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has appointed Prof. Dr. Deepak Aryal as the new Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan University from among the recommended candidates for the vacant position.

A recommendation committee led by Minister for Education, Science, and Technology, Raghuji Pant, had submitted three names to Prime Minister and University Chancellor Oli on Asar 23 (July 7). Out of the three recommended candidates, Dr. Aryal was appointed today, according to Undersecretary Bishnu Subedi from the Prime Minister’s Private Secretariat.

The committee had recommended the following candidates in alphabetical order: current Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khadga KC, former Dean of Tribhuvan University’s Faculty of Science Prof. Dr. Vinil Aryal, and former Director General of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology Dr. Deepak Aryal.

After the resignation of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Kesharjung Baral was approved on Chaitra 28 (April 10), Prime Minister Oli, who also serves as the Chancellor of the university, had appointed Education Chief KC as Acting Vice Chancellor for a maximum of three months until a new appointment was made.
